Uniting Communities has sent a submission to the legislative council outlining our concerns about the SA government’s proposed legislation for mandated treatment for children and young people who are dependent on drugs.

Uniting Communities has been providing specialist drug and alcohol treatment services for many years and so we see first-hand the effects of drug dependence not only on the young person but also on the families and people that care about them.

However we do not believe this approach suggested by the government is the right approach four our young people and so we are compelled to make our views clear whilst also offering to be part of the solution.
