Uniting Communities has partnered with Flinders University to examine the realities of elder abuse using insights from our specialised Elder Abuse Unit. 

This research highlights key challenges and solutions to improve outcomes for older people, including prevention strategies and policy reforms. 

Among the recommendations are:

✅ Updating the Powers of Attorney and Agency Act 1984 to strengthen protections

✅ Introducing new offences that directly address elder abuse

✅ Enhanced safeguards for property transfers

✅ A cost-effective financial recovery process for victims.
