Our latest Loneliness by Numbers report shows that more than half of South Australians (55%) feel lonely sometimes or often, with the highest “lonely often” rates recorded since 2023.
Loneliness is not an individual failing, it is shaped by structural conditions such as cost‑of‑living pressures, and reduced access to social spaces.
This snapshot reinforces the urgent need for a whole‑of‑community response: strengthening social infrastructure, improving transport access, reducing stigma, and supporting place‑based initiatives that help people build meaningful connections.
