Opposing expansion of cashless debit card

24/07/18

Evidence and reports from communities indicate that the implementation of the Cashless Debit Card has not achieved the results which are being claimed by the Federal Government.

Evidence and reports from communities indicate that the implementation of the Cashless Debit Card has not achieved the results which are being claimed by the Federal Government.

Instead of punishing people on income support by placing them on the Card the Government should be directing its attention to increasing public housing stock and ensuring the availability and affordability of decent housing.

Levels of homelessness would be decreased if the amount of income support payments was to be increased so that people could afford to pay rent in private properties.
