New loneliness podcast!
The Men’s Table is a grassroots initiative reshaping how Australian men connect, offering safe spaces for honest conversation and emotional openness.
With monthly dinners across the country, men gather to “go beyond banter” and share life’s highs and lows—an antidote to the social isolation many experience.
Co-founder David Pointon highlights how traditional masculinity often discourages vulnerability, fuelling loneliness that affects one in four Australian men.
The Chatty Café Scheme
The Chatty Café Scheme is a simple yet powerful initiative tackling loneliness by encouraging connection “one chat at a time.”
Participating venues—ranging from cafés and libraries to aged care homes and community centres—host designated “Have a Chat” tables where anyone can sit and enjoy a friendly conversation.
With support from trained volunteers or welcoming staff, these spaces offer a low-pressure way for people to engage, feel seen, and build social ties.
As a registered health promotion charity, Chatty Café Australia is helping to foster inclusive, caring communities across the country by making connection as easy as pulling up a chair
