More help for community sheds
South Australia's latest investment in community sheds is tackling loneliness head-on, with nearly $550,000 in grants awarded to 35 Men’s and Women’s Sheds across the state.
These welcoming spaces offer hands-on activities, shared meals, and meaningful conversations, especially vital for those facing isolation or mental health challenges.
From Mimili to Port Lincoln, the sheds are creating safe places for connection, skill-sharing, and support, helping people feel seen, valued, and less alone.
The link between loneliness and bullying
New research has revealed a strong link between school bullying and feelings of loneliness amongst youth.
The study was co-designed with the South Australian Youth Forum, a youth-led advocacy group, who were also credited as co-authors.
Their involvement ensured the voices and lived experiences of young people were central to the findings, which highlight the urgent need for more inclusive and supportive school environments.
