Uniting Communities believes that the draft religious discrimination bill does not assist us in reducing unfair discrimination in SA.

Uniting Communities believes that the draft religious discrimination bill does not assist us in reducing unfair discrimination in SA. We don’t support the bill in its current form.

If the bill goes ahead we have described the changes which we believe would improve the current bill. We don’t believe there is any need for a freedom of religion commissioner.  We support the current commissioner Edward Santow who covers this area alongside other issues including refugees and migration, human rights issues affecting LGBTI people and freedom of expression.
