Uniting Communities will be delivering the Communication Partner Service from late June to assist people with a disability who are accessing the court system.

Part of the State’s Disability Justice Plan, the service will be run by volunteers who will help victims, witnesses, suspects and defendants to communicate and give evidence in police interviews and court proceedings.

‘We have a long history in recruiting and supporting volunteers to work with vulnerable people and those experiencing crisis,’ says Chief Executive, Simon Schrapel. ‘Combined with our experience providing Community Legal Services and programs for children and people living with a disability, we’re excited to be partnering the State Government for this program.’
