Our strategic direction

Who we are

Our purpose

For more than 120 years, we have created positive change for South Australian communities.

We help those in need find the courage to move forward through enriching their lives and uniting the communities in which they live. By tackling the deep-seated challenges that affect people’s lives, we are working to create systemic change and brighter futures for all South Australians.

Building upon the foundations of our past, we're taking bold steps into the future through innovation, social responsibility and sustainability.

Our identity

We foster connectedness across our society, building strong and compassionate communities which are accessible, respectful and safe for all.

We’re delivering new solutions to entrenched problems through innovation, prevention and early intervention, continuously improving our services which are driven by integrity and quality.

We create a united and inclusive environment for our staff and volunteers, equipping them with the courage, knowledge and capability to continue to drive change for the better.

We have a bold and unceasing commitment to social justice, advocating for change and improvement in the lives of those who need it most.

Our values

With kindness, we reach out, seek to understand and, ultimately, support those who need us. We are the welcome smile, the unhurried space, the gentle consideration for others’ wellbeing.

Through being bold, we take a stand and speak up for those who cannot. We move forward with purpose, curiosity and courage, challenging convention and driving change.

Always genuine and authentic, we act with integrity and accountability in all our relationships.

Our commitments

Reconciliation

We recognise and respect the enduring relationship between First Nations people the land and the sea. The ancestral tie has never been ceded or extinguished and co-exists with our wider community. We acknowledge the past and its impact on the present, so that we can move together in reconciliation and healing.

Violence prevention & gender equality

We are committed to promoting a gendered understanding of violence and in reducing the prevalence of family violence in our community.

Environmental sustainability

Immediate action on climate change is essential. By championing the Net Zero 2035 commitment, there is a clear path forward to continue the achievements in reducing, offsetting and ultimately eliminating our carbon emissions.

We celebrate difference, champion inclusion and promote the importance of creating accessible, respectful and safe spaces for all.
