Ruby’s Reunification Program: Licensing Information

Ruby’s is not just a service; it is a community. We work to keep families together and young people out of the homelessness sector.

The ruby's difference

The Ruby’s Reunification Program has been operating in South Australia since 1993, with the clear purpose of supporting families to have positive relationships and remain living together. Ruby’s service provision is underpinned by the belief that home, where safe, is always the best place for a young person to be. However, Ruby’s also recognises that there are times when families struggle to achieve this on their own.

Keeping families together

This is why Ruby’s exists; the various supports offered by Ruby’s are all purposefully designed and delivered to assist families to re-establish healthy and positive ways of being together, and to remain living together where possible.

Together, these elements form a service that is proven to keep families together, and young people out of the child protection and homelessness sectors.

Service Model

Our Service Model

Our Service Model outlines the essential elements of Ruby’s which have been designed, practised and refined over more than 25 years.

We have consistently seen more than 70% of young people return to the family home.

In collaboration with the SA Department of Human Services, we conducted an analysis to look at the long-term outcomes of Ruby's clients. The data included clients aged 12 to 17 years old who used the service between 2014 and 2018.

After engaging with Ruby's service, an astonishing 89.8% of young people who had exited the program during these years had never presented to a homelessness service in South Australia.

The Ruby’s package

Our purpose is to prevent youth homelessness by providing a therapeutic service focusing on family relationships. We know our model works and we want to support other providers to establish their own Ruby’s service outside of South Australia and keep young people out of the homelessness sector.

We have developed a comprehensive licensing arrangement to ensure the integrity of the Ruby’s model can be extended into other communities and to support the operating agency to deliver an effective program.

Our licensing arrangement incorporates:

  • Pre-establishment quality accreditation to ensure alignment of capacity and values with the prospective provider

  • Access to the Ruby’s service toolkit including our comprehensive Service Model, for use with staff and clients

  • Consultation support during the program set up to guide the establishment of your Ruby’s team and homes

  • Quarterly training in essential theories, practices and principles to enhance engagement outcomes with young people and families, delivered to all Ruby’s team members

  • Ongoing support with an experienced Ruby’s staff member that best suits your needs, such as supervision, reflection, trouble-shooting or brainstorming

  • Annual quality audit to assess program delivery against the Service Model, providing support and recommendations

The Ruby’s licensing package incorporates an establishment and ongoing operational fee. To find out more please use the contact form below to get in touch.
